1. What is SDG service and its advantages?
The SDG (Selective Dynamic Group) service allows you to independently form talk-groups of 2 to 20 participants (excluding the originator).

SDG allows you to:
• Create a talk-group whenever you need to
• Form groups of any combination, including contacts from other fleets
• Update and control membership to each of your talk-groups
• Create as many groups as your phone memory can accommodate
• Enjoy ad-hoc conference calls and social group calls.

2. What do I need to enjoy the SDG service?
To enjoy this service, you will require
• A SDG-supported handset: Motorola i670, i690, i850, i615, i580, i880, i605, i290, and future models
• A SIM card which supports the service.
• Subscription to GRID’s SDG service.

3. How do I create a new SDG?
i. Go to ‘Contacts’
ii. Choose ‘New SDG’ and press ‘Ok’
iii. Choose ‘Add Member’ and press ‘Ok’
iv. Scroll through your PTT Contacts; select the members by pressing ‘Ok’
v. Press ‘Done’ to complete the selection
vi. Scroll up to ‘Name’ and press ‘Ok’, enter the name of the SDG group.
vii. Press ‘Save’

4. How do I make a SDG call?
i. Go to ‘Contacts’
ii. Scroll to the SDG Group
iii. Press the PTT button (make sure that the SDG name is displayed before talking).

5. How will I know who is talking?
The name of the person who is talking will be displayed on the screen if the person’s name and PTT number is in your ‘Contacts’. Otherwise, you will see the PTT number of the person who is
talking on your screen.

6. How will I know how many members are in the SDG?
In each SDG call, you will see the number of active participants and the SDG group size. For example, if you see ‘Active: 2 of 3’ displayed, it means that the SDG has 3 members but only 2 are participating (the third member did not join).

7. How do I quit a SDG call?
You can quit a SDG call anytime by pressing ‘Exit’ button or the End call button.

8. How much does a SDG call cost?
The originator of the SDG call will be charged the prevailing rates (on a per second basis),
multiplied by the number of active members when the SDG call was set up.

9. How do I re-join a SDG call?
Within 1 minute of quitting a SDG call, you can re-join a SDG call (if the SDG call is still in session).
i. Go to the ‘Recent Calls’ list
ii. Select the SDG Group
iii. Press the PTT button

10. What happens if I attempt to re-join a SDG after 1 minute?
If the SDG call is still in session, you will not be able to join the SDG. If the SDG call is over, then you will initiate a new SDG call (and you will have to pay for this call).

11.What happens if all members have quit the SDG?
After the last member has quit the SDG call, you will see ‘User not available A1’ when you press
the PTT button.

12.What are the charges for SDG calls?
SDG service is charged at $1.07 per ID per month, and the user will share the free Talkgroup minutes.
